Last night, Umar Riaz‘s Last Remarks went from being a Student Academy Awards Semi-Finalist to a Finalist in the Alternative Category.
I had the pleasure of production designing this film and turning a crumbling mansion in Yonkers into 1947 Pakistan.
The final awards will be announced in LA in June.

The film is produced by Heather Jack, Shruti Ganguly, and Alexis Gambis, with Cinematography by Pedro Gomez Millan.

Tech Up was featured on Indiewire this morning.  Somewhere in the article you can read the words awkward, quirky fun and they mention that the series handles the branding aspect of the show delicately.  You can read the article here.

Also, Tech Up screened at TriBeca Cinemas last week where we premiered the technology that Anson uses within the show at the gala held in the Varick Room.  You can see the sandwich-sizing genius that Lily Szajnberg developed here.

You can watch Tech Up on IFC and My Damn Channel.

A depressive and asthmatic grim reaper’s fatal touch keeps him from finding true love.
After a smoke break leads to a string of accidental deaths, he begins to wonder if he’ll ever find his soul mate.

Oysters Rockefeller screened at the Cantor Film Center yesterday as part of the NYU First Run Film Festival .

The film won an award for Cinematography and Production Design.
Congratulations to Director of Photography, Michael Rossetti and Production Designer, Puk Grasten!

Here is the link to its profile on the First Run website.

Autumn Whispers had a Cast and Crew screening at Tisch School of the Arts on Friday, March 23rd.
It was great to see it play in front of an audience and get a feel for what the final steps will be as we near the end of post.

Tech Up, the web series I directed and co-wrote is finally online!  The show is sponsored by Subway and is available to watch on My Damn Channel and IFC.  Tech Up has its launch event at South by Southwest on Monday at the IFC Crossroads in Austin, Texas.  I leave tomorrow morning for the screening and will post links to the interviews and such as they come.

Tech Up is one of four web series from teams from NYU and USC grad film schools as part of the Subway Fresh Artists program, which was publicized on the cover of Variety- here.

The show is produced by Claire Harlam and Heather Jack, written by Heather Jack and myself, with Interactive Technology by Lily Szajnberg.
It stars Rob Michael Hugel, Ariana Seigel, Russ Armstrong, Alix Elias, Don Comas, Will Storie, Nicholas Feitel, and Kumar Pallana of Wes Anderson fame.

I’m really proud of the show and all of the work that was put into it.  The entire cast and crew were really amazing, and I’m looking forward to a week of promoting it.

Episode 1:  Anson tries to gain access to a VC firm for his start-up and has a rough day at the office.

Episode 2:  Anson creates a fundraising video to raise support for his invention.

Episode 3:  Anson presents his prototype to a prestigious circle of angel investors.

Anson, an aspiring tech entrepreneur, endeavors to launch a start-up for his latest invention, running his bootstrap operation out of a Subway®
Restaurant, with the help of Sandwich Artist Marlene and to the dismay of franchise owner, Omar.

I’m currently developing a collaborative feature film with nine other filmmakers based on Stephen Dobyns‘ book of poetry, Black Dog, Red Dog.
This is the second episode of the making-of which chronicles our writing process.
Rabbit Bandini Productions is producing the film and we will go into production at the end of April.

This video was taken from James Franco on WhoSayjamesfrancotv.com.

My talented friends, Ingrid Jungermann and Desiree Akhvan released the first episode of the second season of their web series, The Slope, yesterday.
The Slope is a smart show with a strong following, and I had the pleasure of returning to the show as Ingrid’s strange and obsessive friend.
I also directed and acted in Pretty People, the second episode of the first season.

Season 2, Episode 1: “Taking Space” from The Slope on Vimeo.

“The Slope” is a comedy that follows the lives of a lesbian couple navigating their way through modern-day Park Slope, Brooklyn. One year into their relationship, Ingrid and Desiree continue to hash out a power dynamic that ends up making them look homophobic, superficial and ultimately, perfect for one another.
